How to install Tally.ERP 9 using new installer in Release 5?

Below is the detailed procedure of installing Tally.ERP 9 using new installer (Release 5) 

·         Download Installer (Setup.exe) from Tally Website> Download centre.
Install Now: It is a small file (around 1 MB). This can be used to install Tally application, however, user needs to ensure that internet is available during installation. This is because Installation Components will get downloaded from Server during installation.


Download for Later: It is a full installer containing all components embedded in it. However, internet is mandatory during installation of Tally application.

·         Double click on Installer and you can see new interface. By default, installation folder path takes the previously installed folder irrespective of releases. If required, user can change the path or continue installing the application by clicking Install button.
Note: Click on Advanced button to change Data Directory, Country and Language details:

·         A new option ‘Check Latest’ available in installation wizard screen to check latest release available in Tally Server. By clicking this option, it communicates to Tally Server and shows if any new release is available apart from release component in installer file. However, internet is required during communication to Tally Server.

During installation, it automatically recognize the system architecture resources (System bit 32/64) and installs Tally.ERP 9 application. This installer also comes with help file. During installation, users have a choice to install application with or without help file.
On successful installation, the below message is shown:
        By accepting the message, Tally opens and ask for Activation/Reactivation/Configure Existing License:
 Components available in Tally.ERP 9 installation folder are:
*Setup – New component is to be used to upgrade application from existing release to latest and also has option to uninstall the program.
