How to raise Excise Supplementary invoice in Tally.ERP 9 Release 5?

What is Supplementary Invoice?

During the normal course of business a company or manufacturer may negotiate with the buyer for an upward revision in the Rate per Unit for invoices already issued. To recover this additional amount and the corresponding duty on the revised amount it is required to issue an additional invoice called Supplementary Invoice.

Supplementary Invoice is necessary in these scenarios:-

  • When there is an upward revision only in Rate per Unit
  • Finalisation of provisional assessment of Rate of Duty
  • When there is an upward revision only in Rate of Duty
  • When there is an upward revision in Rate per Unit and Rate of Duty


a)     Recording a Revision in Rate per Unit

Go to Gateway of Tally > Accounts Vouchers > F8: Sales: > Contrl+U: Supplementary

  In Party’s A/C name select Customer.
  In original invoice details mention the period for which sales invoice was raised.
  In Invoice number under list of original invoice numbers, select original sales invoice.

  • Accept original invoice details screen.
  • Enter on Stock item e.g.: Bottles > under item allocation mention revised rate e.g.: earlier rate was 100, revised rate is 150.


Note: - Select second item and mention revised duty rate if applicable.

  • Duty will calculate on difference rate of Duty. e.g.:- 50000(original invoice assessable value x1.5 (duty difference % 12.5% - 14% = 1.5%)/100 =750.


b)    Recording transaction when there is Revision in Rate of duty.
  
Go to Gateway of Tally > Accounts Vouchers > F8: Sales: > Contrl+U: Supplementary
  •   In Party’s A/C name select Customer.
  •   In original invoice details mention the period for which sales invoice was raised.
  •   In Invoice number under list of original invoice numbers, select original sales invoice.


Accept original invoice details screen.

Enter on Stock item e.g.: Bottles > under item allocation mention revised rate of duty e.g.: earlier rate was 12.5%, revised rate is 14%.
Note: - Select second item and mention revised duty rate if applicable.

Duty will calculate on difference rate of Duty. e.g.:- 50000(original invoice assessable value x1.5 (duty difference % 12.5% - 14% = 1.5%)/100 =750

Press Enter to accept and save the transaction.
